Full Length Review: LADY BEAST Vicious Breed (Cruz del Sur Music)

Vicious Breed
Country of origin: USA
Genre: Heavy metal, power metal
Release date: November 17, 2017
I’ve been following this band from Pittsburgh since their first full length “Lady Beast” from 201 (yep, the Infernö Records era) and I knew that there was something special about their music. After a couple of releases with the French label, this is their first full length under the wings of the Italian label Cruz del Sur Music. It's nothing less than honest heavy metal, with tons of influence from early Iron Maiden, Running Wild, Angel Witch etc. Deborah Levine is a great singer who captures the essence of true heavy metal with no polished material. From her vocals she reminds me Doro Pesch, Bruce Dickinson, and for a strange reason, Kimberly Goss of Sinergy. No kindly melody here. All the tracks are forged in the metallic spirit, with powerful choruses, solid guitars (fantastic twin lines ala Iron Maiden; listen to Every Giant Shall Fall) and superb recording that’s direct to the bone, like if you are inside the place. Nope, they are not reinventing or transforming heavy metal genre. This band is just playing music what they most like, and it seems like they really enjoy it. I’ve seen their logo at some festivals lately, and I’m sure their best stuff is yet to come. Get this diamond and support the new wave of heavy metal from the US. Guaranteed! -Victor Varas
